It is our pleasure to announce the first edition of the Stromboli Summer Research Intensive, a one-week collaborative research workshop for exploring the foundations of physics on the volcano island of Stromboli, Italy.
From August 23 to August 31, 2025, SSRI will gather 12 early-career researchers (final-year PhD students and postdocs) for a week of deep inquiry and collaborative research foundational and conceptual topics in quantum mechanics, quantum information theory, quantum field theory, classical and/or quantum gravity, thermodynamics, statistical physics, and/or philosophy of physics proposed by the participants.
SSRI aims to provide a self-directed and community-driven environment, fostering long-term collaborations and valuable research experience. Participants will co-live in shared accommodation, contribute to daily tasks, and work together on research ideas proposed by the participants. The format includes whiteboard presentations, collaborative discussions, and structured research sessions, culminating in final presentations summarising progress.
The application deadline is April 7th.
